• Hyggehiking

low-key gatherings for the socially curious

Hygge ("hue-guh"): a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being

  • What are Hygge Gatherings?

Each gathering is an open invitation to the kindhearted,

delightful, and curious people you think we should all meet.

We'll wander throughout the green spacse of our city, share meals,

talk passions and projects, and meet those who can help.

To make conversations with strangers easier and more fruitful,

keep an eye out for hand-written recipes for deeper connection.

The force behind this event is passion, not business.

We're here to make friends, not contacts.

We believe everyone can teach us something.

We are gathering to help one another do the most possible

good with our projects, adventures, and connections.

This is not a startup or networking meetup.

It's an informal get-together of people seeking meaningful

conversation and purpose-filled action in their lives.

We hope to help you find it here.

Gatherings have been taking place monthly since 2016. What began as dinners evolved by 2023 into city explorations on foot across NYC, NJ, Philly, and Berkeley. Each new gathering is posted here below, as well as shared as a monthly newsletter on Substack.

    Hyggehiking Manhattan's Makeout Spots

    Saturday, July 11, 2026

    10am-10pm

    👉 RSVP HERE 👈

On Saturday July 11th, we'll explore Manhattan's most memorable makeout spots, from secret gardens and rooftops to iconic landmarks with dreamy vistas. Note that making out is neither required nor necessarily encouraged during this daylong city wander, but you'll come away with ample ideas and itineraries for future fraternizing, and by all means feel free to share stories of snoggings of yore and to suggest additional recs along the trek.

If you can convince any ecologist/sociologist friends to join us, maybe they can help us uncover the intricacies undergirding urban dating ecologies!

This hike celebrates 2026's Week of Visibility of Non-Monogamy. While monogamy works great for most people most of the time, it's nice to celebrate all the nontraditional relationship styles and approaches that enable people to choose and cultivate the best relationship configurations for them!

Here's my attempt at explaining non-monogamy using cat gifs.

    About

If you haven't been to a Hygge event before, think of it as a casual gathering to make new friends, discuss fun projects you're eager to work on, dive into deep, thoughtful discussions, and meet people who can help make NYC feel like a smaller, closer-knit community. Bring your friends, family, coworkers, anyone you think would enjoy both meeting new people and coming across friendly and familiar faces.

"Hyggehiking" is my own special blend of Hygge gathering — a conversational stroll through the green spaces of our city.

    Logistics

This is a 10+ hour urban walk spanning 10+ miles, and you are free to join us at any point in the day. All RSVP'd "yes" and "maybe" attendees will receive a link at 10am to my realtime location for the entire day, along with my phone number, so you can see exactly where we are on Google Maps and call me directly if you need help.

    What to bring

    • comfy walking shoes
    • sun protection
    • cash
    • friends 🥰

  • Want a website like this?

I built this website in less than an hour using Strikingly. It's unnervingly easy to use. Here's my referral link so you can start building your own: https://www.strikingly.com/a/PthnW4

I found Strikingly so easy to use that now, whenever I have a weird business idea I want to show to the world, I can spin up a website for it in less than an hour. If you really want to build a website, and need a little help getting started, I'd be happy to explain the basics to you, and talk through your idea along the way. My friend sat down with me to help me build my first website, and I want to offer others that same empowering experience!
